DogHeart Theatre acknowledges and honours that the land on which we operate is Treaty 6 territory: the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations including the Cree, Saulteaux (Ojibway/Anishinaabe), Blackfoot (including Piegan, Blood, Siksika), Métis, Dene Nakoda, Nakota Sioux, and Cree – Iroquois. The members of DogHeart Theatre live and work in Amiskwaciwâskahikan / ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ or Edmonton, Alberta, and are grateful for the opportunity to keep working towards reconciliatory practices as part of the work we engage in as creators.

The Treaty marks a promise of peace and friendship, which has not always been upheld by the settlers of this land, and we believe this promise is vital in the movement towards truth and reconciliation. Want to know more about Truth and Reconciliation? Visit https://nctr.ca

who we are

Inspired by the incredible independent theatre scene in our city, we strive to collaborate with emerging and established artists in our community who share our spirit and love of the process. DogHeart Theatre is focused on women-led projects that are compelling, subversive, engaging and full of heart…just like us!

We produce high quality theatre through a democratic model that celebrates the creative potential of everyone in the room.

Together, we have nearly 50 years of experience as professional theatre artists.

And between us we have 4 big, messy, beautiful mutts.
